About the role:
We are seeking compassionate and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team. If youre passionate about making a positive impact and supporting individuals to live their best lives wed love for you to join us in supporting one of our valued clients.
In this role you will provide personalised support to clients with higher support needs including challenging behaviours and autism spectrum disorder. You will play a vital role in ensuring their unique needs are met through tailored support fostering an environment of respect dignity and independence.
What will I be doing
Person Centred Active Support (PCAS)
meaningful and professional relationships with each client and their family understanding their unique needs goals and daily living activities.
positive reinforcement and behaviour management techniques to support clients to achieve their daily routines and goals.
a high level of physical support to clients including all aspects of manual handling lifting bending stretching and physical transfer.
support with toileting showering mealtime management medication grooming dressing household duties and other tasks as required.
support with daily planning advocacy communication and transport as required by the people we support in home and community settings.
About You
You are a warm person with experience in disability aged care nursing or personal experience.
Essential requirements:
- Have completed Certificate III Qualification (or above) in a relevant area such as Disability Community Services or Aged Care (individuals studying Health Nursing Physiotherapy Occupational Therapy will also be considered).
- Current First Aid Certificate with CPR.
- Current State/Territory drivers licence and own reliable transport.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Satisfaction of all requirements for working in Australia.
Desirable requirements:
- Disability Management Nursing or Allied Health related qualifications.
- Experience working in a community residential and/or rehabilitation environment.
- Experience with high needs clients and Behaviours of concern.
- Awareness of relevant legislation (such as the Disability Act 2006 or the Department of Health and Human Services ISO Standards).
