About the team
The Technology Risk and Controls team ensures compliance stability and reliability of Stripes core infrastructure and technology against audit and regulatory needs. The team builds and maintains a controls library resilient with changing tech stack and risk landscape and performs oversight and monitoring of technology posture and control health.
What youll do
You will join one of the teams behind infrastructure platforms used by engineering security and business partners at Stripe. You will oversee the development of solutions that may be from scratch built on top of inhouse platforms or leveraging 3rd party solutions. We expect that working along the teams technical leaders you will be able to ensure that your team processes to best integrate into Stripes technology organization. We are a highly effective team consistently delivering highimpact results while genuinely caring for each other.
Responsibilities
- Work with other Stripe leaders to design and lead the development of processes and controls that best fulfill Stripes compliance obligations.
- Iterate on the risk management processes to bring in best industry practices.
- Empower the engineering team to achieve a high level of technical compliance reliability and efficiency.
- Recruit great program managers and compliance experts in collaboration with Stripes recruiting team.
- Grow and care for your team and ensure its integrated well into Stripe in accordance with Stripes operating principles.
- Help program managers advance in their careers and develop new skills.
- Contribute to engineeringwide and program management initiatives as a member of Stripes engineering and program management team.
Who you are

Minimum requirements
- 5 years of people management experience
- 8 years of experience in technology risk and compliance management
- Handson experience building risk and compliance programs for internal or external customers.
- Expertise in at least 2 major industry security and reliability frameworks such as SOC SOX PCI DORA ISO27001 or other comparable standards.
- Experience collaborating with regulatory compliance partners globally.
- Successfully recruited great team members
- The ability to thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility
- Clear and persuasive writing and inperson communication
Preferred qualifications
- Empathetic to customer needs but visionary enough to not just deliver a faster horse
- Comfortable planning in quarters and can set a vision for several years
- Excited about collaborating with teammates across Stripes organization to provide a wonderful user experience for key compliance workflows
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people genuinely caring for each other and contributing to high level of psychological safety for all team members and partners
- Comfortable working with geographically distributed teams
- Problemsolving skills determination and a growth mindset
