DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Social Services Aide 2 you will be assisting clients and families with activities of daily living. This includes instruction on family budgeting housekeeping standards personal health and hygiene as well as food preparation and storage. Providing transportation to medical dental and other needed services will be your responsibility in addition to providing childcare as needed during appointments and visitations. Effective communication skills will be key as you will work with agency caseworkers supervisors and contracted service providers. Within this role you will also be assisting with all other child welfare related nonprofessional duties.

- Fulltime employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday Friday with a 60minute lunch.
- Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a County Social Services Aide 1;or
- Graduation from high school or its equivalency and two years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or
- An associates degree in sociology social welfare psychology gerontology criminal justice or other related social sciences;or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession ofa valid drivers license which is not under suspension.

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna County. If no eligible candidates who live within Lackawanna County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including but not limited to PA State Police clearance PA Child Abuse history clearance and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
