Job Description

The Oshkosh Corporation Vocational segment leverages the power of our people brands and strength in technology to improve the safety cleanliness and productivity of our communities. The Vocational segment includes market leading brands McNeilus Oshkosh SSeries IMT Pierce MAXIMETAL Oshkosh Airport Products and Frontline Communications. Job Summary:

The positions within an Assembler are responsible for having the job knowledge and skills to work in every station proficiently on an assembly line with the ability to identify discrepancies within the process that effect equipment performance or the quality of the product. The Assembler will be responsible for assembling various components in the manufacture of assemblies/subassemblies of various heavyduty vehicles.

Your Impact:

These duties are not meant to be allinclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Ability to interpret and process information through interaction with the Truck Builder System. This system provides standard work instructions and requires the assembler to perform such requirements and confirm results back into the system.
  • Disciplined to follow written instruction with data input to prevent assembly issues and potential performance and quality defects.
  • Work cycles can be up to 4 hours in duration. The assembler must stay in sequence and be able to confirm each step of the process has been completed successfully before sending the unit to the next station.
  • Utilize special equipment including but not limited to all hand tools cordless tools Gluing Equipment Jib and Overhead Cranes and Quality Testing Equipment.
  • Assemble parts utilizing safe and proper tools and techniques:
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures rules and proper 6S standards; use best practices to follow all safe procedures in assembling and testing of all models/products in assigned job function.
  • Assist in driving back defects to the point of origin along with identifying and assisting in implementation of preventative actions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 months or more of relevant experience OR high school diploma or equivalent education
  • Previous experience with basic hand tools

Standout Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing operations environment

Key Abilities Needed to Complete Essential Functions

  • Read tape measure safety manuals work orders and blueprints effectively
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and other coworkers
  • Understand and identify safety issues
  • Maintain balance when walking and standing on potential slippery work floor
  • Maintain balance when climbing on a portable step ladders and trucks
  • Individually lift and manipulate parts/equipment weighing up to 35 pounds
  • Tolerate constant standing while performing tasks along with occasional awkward positions to complete the tasks
  • Have good hand eye coordination
  • Use both hands for tool operation carrying of parts and assisting coworkers with heavy lifting of parts
  • Distinguish the difference in various parts and equipment
  • Operate and access heavy equipment safely and effectively
  • Remember task sequence and safety constraints
