Assists with pharmaceutical tasks under pharmacist supervision including medication preparation and inventory management. Helps with data collection policy development and patient record maintenance.

This is an intern position which works directly with the Pharmacy Informatics Community at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of routine technical and clerical support tasks (e.g. preparation of unit dose medications outpatient prescriptions intravenous admixtures cytotoxic and other investigational drugs) within pharmaceutical services as per established guidelines and procedures.
  • As directed assist in the preparation and delivery of pharmaceutical supplies under the authorized review and check of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Support stocking and reordering of pharmacy supplies assist in mailout orders and replenishment of nursing floor stock.
  • Maintain appropriate patient computer and manual records and perform computer order entry of patient orders.
  • Assist in nursing unit inspections and management of investigational drugs.
  • Assist with pharmacist informatics/data analytics team in data collection/review/analysis.
  • Assist with medication safety and policy team to develop monographs and guidelines and review medication safety data.
  • Perform some functions as a pharmacist under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist as permitted by regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.


Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • High School Diploma/Associates degree and accepted/enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy degree program.

  • Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma/Associates degree
  • Accepted/enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy degree program.
  • Some experience working with relevant software systems and technology preferred.

  • Demonstrate understanding of clinical drug aspects to address specific patient needs within pharmacy area (e.g. inpatient outpatient home infusion research).
  • Engage with patient to communicate relevant information about prescriptions.
  • Apply basic knowledge of pharmacy support and assistance processes in delivery of assigned routine tasks (e.g. documentation inventory support) with guidance.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for own area of support.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets experience and training licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $21.00 $35.50 per hour for the role of Pharmacy Intern Informatics.
