Position Overview:
The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a motivated and skilled candidate to serve as the Corrections Supply Supervisor. The ideal candidate for this position will possess previous merchandise distribution experience and will be comfortable leading by exampleand providing instruction to the youth in our care. The incumbent in this position will have a working knowledge of storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures and also have a working knowledge of inventory and other control methods and procedures. The candidate will comply with safety and sanitation procedures for all areas of the facility. Essential Functions:
- Receives checks stores prices and distributes merchandise for all stores.
- Maintains records for the various store purchases to ensure a clear audit trail identifying the flow of equipment and commodities through receipt distribution and reassignment.
- Monitors and coordinates the work assignments of youthto ensure proper preparation of receiving reports posting receiving reports and requisitions to perpetual inventory system.
- Verifies compliance with safety and sanitation procedures for all areas.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school or completion of an approved training course.
- Requires two years experience in the keeping of stores and store records.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance):
- Prefers thorough knowledge of institutional rules regulations and requirements for the control of youth.
- Prefers working knowledge of storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures.
- Prefers working knowledge of inventory and other control methods and procedures.
- Prefers working knowledge of transportation agencies and of shipping purchasing and requisitioning methods and procedures.
- Prefers ability to enforce disciplinary safety security and custodial measures for the control of residents.
- Prefers physical ability to carry out duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment:
- Requires the ability to pass an IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee regardless of position held is prohibited.
- Overtime is a condition of employment and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled unscheduled or lastminute overtime. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
- This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Requires completion of approved course in guard training within six months of employment.
- Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/545 apply to this position. As a result the employee should be aware that if offered nonState employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment the employee shall prior to accepting any such nonState employment offer notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.

About the Agency:
The mission of the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ) is to build youth skills and strengthen families by promoting community safety and positive youth outcomes. Over 900 staff members from across various departmentssecurity programming education mental health and morecollaborate with the understanding that youth are physically emotionally and cognitively different from adults. The department provides extensive services to young people through a developmental treatmentfocused model of care that builds youth resiliency engages families and promotes community safety at the five youth facilities it operates across the state. IDJJ serves and houses approximately 150 youth and is responsible for approximately 500 youth on Aftercare in various Illinois communities.
