Title: Kindergarten Instructional Assistant

Job Type: FullTime

FLSA: Exempt

Campus: Herron Preparatory Academy

Department: Instruction

Reports To: Head of School

Managing Employees: No

Salary Range: Negotiable


The Kindergarten Instructional Assistant provides instructional support to assigned classroom teacher(s) and leads smallgroup targeted instructional intervention. The Kindergarten Instructional Assistant reports to the Head of School.

Specific objectives and responsibilities of the position include:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides instructional and behavioral interventions under the direction of a teacher that reinforces Tier 1 reading language arts and/or mathematics instruction.
  • Helps prepare scholars for and administers formal and informal assessments.
  • Assists the classroom teachers with the implementation of the lesson and intervention plans including supporting smallgroup instruction and preparing lesson and classroom materials.
  • Completes progress monitoring tasks to track scholars growth over time and the effectiveness of interventions provided.
  • Creates and maintains working relationships between parents scholars and school staff.

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Nurture a positive relationship with colleagues.
  • Demonstrate respect for colleagues.
  • Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives. Work as a team player.
  • Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.

  • Assists with administrative school functions when not in the classroom.
  • Attendance at scheduled faculty meetings professional development meetings and other sessions as determined by the Head of School.
  • Attendance at evening events that include but may not be limited to Parent Orientation Meet the Teacher Night Parent/Teacher Conferences and Open Houses. The dates of these events are listed on the Master Calendar.
  • An expectation of professional and ethical conduct and professional growth throughout the year.
  • Collaboratively works with the administration and others to support the policies guidelines and working procedures for Herron High School.
  • Performs other duties as determined necessary by the administration.
  • An assignment of 180 days with vacation as approved by the Head of School.
