What You Will do:

GrandBridge Energy is recruiting for 2nd Year Apprentices to Journeyperson Powerline Technicians who will report to our Operations South Centre in Brantford. You will be responsible for the construction maintenance and repair of overhead and underground powerlines and related equipment. The ideal candidates will have relevant technical training a strong commitment to safety and the physical ability to work in varied and often challenging outdoor conditions. Depending on their level candidates will either continue their apprenticeship or carry out journeypersonlevel responsibilities including mentoring junior team members.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Proficient with the construction of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
  • Possess technical knowledge on the operation of the electrical distribution system as well as the electrical equipment and mapping that comprises the electrical system.
  • Experienced in the troubleshooting and repair of the electrical distribution system.
  • Apply all aspects of the Electrical Utility Safety Rules Book 7 Traffic Manual and relevant aspects of the Company Health and Safety program to all work on the electrical distribution system.
  • Competent with all aspects of the loading and operating requirements for digger and aerial device trucks as well as associated rigging techniques.
  • Able to work in a physically demanding environment that includes heavy lifting stretching and pulling climbing working at heights and extreme weather conditions.
  • Perform regular standby duties (oncall) and assist with emergency callouts as required.
  • Proficient with MS Office and utilization of relevant software programs.
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture by fostering collaboration maintaining a positive attitude supporting our customers and contributing to a respectful and inclusive environment.

What You Will Bring:

  • Meet or exceed the requirements of a 2nd Year Powerline Technician Apprentice in terms of hours worked schooling status competency & skills.
  • Valid drivers record in good standing preferably a DZ licence or Restricted AZ licence. If you do not hold a AZR licence you must be willing to obtain it within your first eighteen months of employment.
  • Be able to respond to our service center within 30 minutes to meet on call requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple stakeholder groups and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
