A Brief Overview
The Transfer Center Manager is a Registered Nurse who provides direct management and coordination of all activities involving the transfer center. The Transfer Center Manager works in partnership with nursing the healthcare team hospital/system leaders and external customers. Manager Transfer Center ensures a setting that supports professional nursing and quality patient care. The Transfer Center Manager is accountable for all activities and communication involved in transferring patients into Stanford Healthcare SHC and LPCH (via lifeflight only).

What you will do
  • The Manager Transfer Center will oversee the entire cycle of the Transfer Center daily functions.
  • The Center receives transfer requests from referring facilities and the staff coordinates patient transfer using excellent customer service skills with all callers.
  • The manager facilitates all communication between referring and receiving hospitals/physicians in a professional and effective manner.
  • Documents all required information pertaining to the patient transfer process accurately and thoroughly.
  • Applies approved clinical criteria to evaluate appropriateness of transfer and level of care.
  • Documents findings based on department standards.
  • Partners with Life Flight and specialty transport teams to coordinate flight and ground transportation as needed and collaborates with financial planning to protect the financial integrity of the facility.
  • Maintains knowledge base of processes and systems by attending meetings and reviewing training materials identifies and works to resolve system problems impacting transfers.
  • Ensures safe care to patients staff and visitors; adheres to all Stanford Healthcare policies procedures and standards within budgetary specifications including time management supply management productivity and quality of service.
  • Responsibilities include coordination of patient care; supervision of a professional team that includes multiple nursing and other staff.
  • Customizes and updates education based upon current best practices defines staff roles and accepts organizational accountability for services provided to recipients.
  • The Nurse Manager role is critical to hospital operations.

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in a workrelated discipline/field from an accredited college or university

Experience Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
  • Prior Transfer Center or Life Flight experience in a level 1 trauma center highly desirable

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with widely diverse groups including individuals at all levels both within and outside the organization and gain their cooperation
  • Ability to plan organize prioritize work independently and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of the organization and operation of the Transfer Center is necessary to ensure the delivery of qualitycosteffective and efficient patient care

Licenses and Certifications
  • RN Registered Nurse State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure and
  • BLS Basic Life Support

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $91.60 $121.38 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
