DescriptionThe MRI Tech 2 arranges patients for Magnetic resonance examinations. Produces MRI images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. MRI technologist monitors and ensures safety of patient and all personnel prior to entering magnetic area. Performs patient screening by using established protocols for any ferrous materials and medical device history and for safe administration of contrast media. Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and all functions of the job. Provides complete pre and post education to patients and family. Works under minimal supervision and may perform additional job duties.
Responsibilities- Clinical skills
- Exhibits working knowledge of all MRI equipment and procedures.
- Refers to physicians orders/chart for any special instructions that may be indicated.
- Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
- Explains procedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.
- Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
- Coordinates MRI schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
- Patient/General Safety
- Corrects and reports accidents incidents and safety hazards.
- Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.
- Is aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information.
- Uses good body mechanics when moving patients.
- Adheres to infection control practices.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Reports all equipment problems to chief technologist and places service call through call center.
- Documentation/Communication
- Complete Exam Data Entry fields on all exams
- Documents all pertinent information i.e. patient history tech initials
- other duties as assigned.
- Is available to work a rotating oncall schedule to ensure 24hour coverage of the MRI Department
- Assist in other areas of the department as workload permits.
- Keeps areas well stocked at all times.
- Consistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values Service and Quality.
Qualifications1 year experience
Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program
Current State License American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R) or Registry Eligible and certification in MRI; BLS
