Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Data Protection Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role you will be responsible for the daytoday operations of Veritas NetBackup specifically utilizing Version 10.3x ensuring the integrity availability and security of our data protection solutions. Your expertise will play a crucial role in safeguarding our data assets and enhancing our backup and recovery processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Veritas NetBackup Operations:
- Oversee daily operations and maintenance of Veritas NetBackup (Version 10.3x) ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Implement best practices for backup strategies job scheduling and policy management to ensure efficient data protection.
Advanced NetBackup Functionality:
- Leverage your experience with NetBackup Access V8 and Virtual File Replicator (VFR) to enhance data replication and recovery processes.
- Manage and maintain the NetBackup 5340 appliance utilizing AIR (Advanced Image Replication) for seamless replication and disaster recovery.
Integration with S3 Protocols:
- Configure and optimize S3 protocols for communication with PURE Storage as a replication target ensuring the use of immutable backup images.
- Collaborate with NetApp storage solutions for integrated and reliable data protection strategies.
OpsCenter Utilization:
- Utilize OpsCenter to gather and analyze critical NetBackup data providing insights into backup performance job success rates and potential areas for improvement.
- Generate reports and dashboards to present data protection metrics to stakeholders and management.
Cohesity Backup Operations:
- Manage daily backup operations using Cohesity versions 6.8.2 and 7.x ensuring the timely execution of backups and recovery processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to Cohesity backup jobs and performance implementing necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Experience with Veritas NetBackup Access V8
- Experience with Netbackup 5340 appliance using AIR replication
- Experience with backup operations using Cohesity 6.8.2 and 7.x versions
- Strong knowledge of data replication technologies including VFR AIR and S3 protocols.
- Familiarity with storage solutions such as PURE and NetApp with a focus on backup and recovery best practices.
- Proficiency in using OpsCenter for gathering critical NBU data
- Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Veritas Certified Professional Cohesity Certified Professional) are a plus.
