Job Description
Seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Baltimore MD.
This position offers full benefits including PTO Medical Dental and 401k!
Pay is between $30 $38 per hour (based on experience)
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will specialize in diagnosing repairing and maintaining heavy machinery such as forklifts bulldozers front loaders and backhoes. This role is critical to ensure the smooth operation of equipment essential for the company logistics and cargo handling.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect diagnose and repair heavy equipment including forklifts bulldozers front loaders and backhoes.
- Perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal functionality and longevity of machinery.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic electrical and mechanical issues efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes tire rotations and filter replacements.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to assess equipment conditions and identify malfunctions.
- Replace rebuild or upgrade faulty components to restore equipment to working order.
- Conduct safety checks to meet operational standards and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with department teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs inspections and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety regulations at all times.
- Participate in emergency repairs and provide onsite support as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4 years experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment in an industrial transportation logistics or port setting.
- 2 years experience with Diesel replacement.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Strong attention to detail and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks multitask prioritize and delegate tasks when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a highpaced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to work as a team.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Extended periods of sitting standing or lying down while operating or positioned under equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
