Job Description
Position Summary
Head Start is a federal program that has been serving vulnerable children and families for more than half a century. We serve people experiencing homelessness poverty involvement in the foster system or child protective system or any other family stressors that qualifying families may be experiencing. Head Start classrooms do not expel or exclude children due to behavioral issues or disabilities and special needs of any kind. We recognize instead that individualizing for the specific needs of every child in a nurturing and supportive environment is how we best help all children reach kindergarten healthy and ready to learn. Center staff will have a responsibility to support the needs of all children in their classrooms.
The Opportunity:The Information Technology (IT) Support Technician II provides comprehensive enduser support and technical assistance to Skagit/Island Head Start employees. This role involves independently managing the setup maintenance and troubleshooting of computer systems and networks while also providing guidance and instructions to users. A strong and professional understanding of IT principles concepts and best practices is essential for this position.This is a classified benefitseligible position working 30 hours per week. There is one (1) vacancy for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service and Support
- Respondto user troubles and requests with patience calm problemsolving and technical solutions in a variety of situations including but not limited to network accounts printing audiovisual conferencing and file shares;
- Coordinate office moves and other scheduled projects;
- Diagnose and resolve hardware software and networking issues;
- Provide enduser desktop support for Microsoft environment for users with varying skill sets and abilities.
- Manage and maintain inventory of IT equipment ensuring all new assets are entered in appropriate databases when received and removed from inventories when retired from service;
- Install configure and maintain desktops laptops printers and other peripherals;
- Support program planning for hardware replacements.
- Conduct training sessions for end users on effectively utilizing computers and software programs ensuring they understand best practices for security and efficiency;
- Serve as the liaison between Skagit Valley College end users and other agency partners.
- Perform website maintenance updates and performance monitoring;
- Participate in program trainings and other professional development activities to enhance job skills and knowledge;
- Support program ongoing quality improvement through participating in program planning and assessment efforts by offering insights and observations;
- Ensure compliance with organizational (SIHS and SVC) policies and industry regulations.
- Manage software updates patches and licenses.
Knowledge and understanding of:- Computer installation;
- Computer operating system and software installation and configuration;
- Computer inventory maintenance;
- Wireless computing;
- Customer service orientation.
- Assist higherlevel technicians with system reimaging and network connectivity issue resolution;
- Deal with confidential information;
- Work with a diverse group of individuals.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of computer technician experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- An associates degree or higher in Computer Science Information Technology or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or a related program.

Salary and Benefits:
- Salary is based on Range 46 Step A $3999 per month with periodic increments to $5241 per month. The prorated monthly rate at 30/week (75% FTE) is $2999.25 with periodic increments to $3930.75. Starting salary may be dependent on education qualifications and experience. Salary and benefits are subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates and collective bargaining agreements.
- This position is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and is dependent upon continued grant funding.
- This is a unionrepresented position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
