Job Description

Position Summary

Head Start is a federal program that has been serving vulnerable children and families for more than half a century. We serve people experiencing homelessness poverty involvement in the foster system or child protective system or any other family stressors that qualifying families may be experiencing. Head Start classrooms do not expel or exclude children due to behavioral issues or disabilities and special needs of any kind. We recognize instead that individualizing for the specific needs of every child in a nurturing and supportive environment is how we best help all children reach kindergarten healthy and ready to learn. Center staff will have a responsibility to support the needs of all children in their classrooms.

The Opportunity:The Information Technology (IT) Support Technician II provides comprehensive enduser support and technical assistance to Skagit/Island Head Start employees. This role involves independently managing the setup maintenance and troubleshooting of computer systems and networks while also providing guidance and instructions to users. A strong and professional understanding of IT principles concepts and best practices is essential for this position.This is a classified benefitseligible position working 30 hours per week. There is one (1) vacancy for this position.

The Location:Skagit Valley College is on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples especially on Swinomish Indian Tribal Community Upper Skagit Indian Tribe Samish Indian Nation Nooksack Indian Tribe and SaukSuiattle Indian Tribe. Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service and Support

Hardware Management
  • Manage and maintain inventory of IT equipment ensuring all new assets are entered in appropriate databases when received and removed from inventories when retired from service;
  • Install configure and maintain desktops laptops printers and other peripherals;
  • Support program planning for hardware replacements.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Conduct training sessions for end users on effectively utilizing computers and software programs ensuring they understand best practices for security and efficiency;
  • Serve as the liaison between Skagit Valley College end users and other agency partners.
  • Perform website maintenance updates and performance monitoring;
  • Participate in program trainings and other professional development activities to enhance job skills and knowledge;
  • Support program ongoing quality improvement through participating in program planning and assessment efforts by offering insights and observations;
  • Ensure compliance with organizational (SIHS and SVC) policies and industry regulations.
Software and System Support
  • Manage software updates patches and licenses.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and understanding of:
  • Computer installation;
  • Computer operating system and software installation and configuration;
  • Computer inventory maintenance;
  • Wireless computing;
  • Customer service orientation.
Ability to:
  • Assist higherlevel technicians with system reimaging and network connectivity issue resolution;
  • Deal with confidential information;
  • Work with a diverse group of individuals.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • An associates degree or higher in Computer Science Information Technology or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or a related program.
