Real Estate Underwriter

Real Estate is a key strategic growth priority for Chubb and we are expanding our proposition focusing on growth in the UK regions and in midmarket. Role Purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is to underwrite Property and Liability risks for Real Estate clients ranging in size from lower midmarket / single property risks to large scheduled & Major Accounts / multinational. Initially the focus will be new business but over time also managing some renewal business.

The geographical scope of the role is UK Regions (supporting our offices in Glasgow Newcastle Leeds Manchester Birmingham Maidstone) plus some London broker business. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our UKI distribution team and local property managers and will develop key broker and client relationships.

The successful candidate will work closely with our claims risk engineering and global services team to provide excellent service to our brokers and clients. They will also work closely with our other underwriting teams to provide crosslines solutions.

Key responsibilities:

1. Underwriting Underwrite new business and renewal accounts according to defined underwriting guidelines and strategies
2. Financial Contribute towards achieving the Real Estate financial plan
3. Compliance and Procedures Meet company standards in respect of policy documentation contract certainty peer review audit compliance legal and regulatory requirements.
4. Chubb Representative Represent and promote Chubb to brokers and clients. Represent the Real Estate team internally at production renewal and other internal Chubb meetings.
5. Business Development Proactively develop relationships with key brokers and clients to ensure profitable and sustainable growth in conjunction with distribution and other key stakeholders.
6. Crosssell Proactively maximise crossselling opportunities through collaboration with Chubb colleagues

Skills & Experience required:

• Good working knowledge of the insurance market and experience of dealing with brokers and clients
• Results driven with ability to make decisions and work on your own initiative
• Desire to continue to develop technical and broader business skills
• Property underwriting knowledge and experience is essential. Liability knowledge and experience is preferred but not essential
• Experience working with Real Estate clients and brokers is an advantage but not essential
• Multinational experience is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided
