Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Reading Academy Trainer to lead the implementation of the Texas Reading Academies for K3 teachers. This role includes delivering highquality training aligned with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) conducting classroom observations and providing instructional coaching grounded in the Science of Reading and the schools curriculum. The trainer will play a key role in connecting Reading Academies content directly to daily classroom instruction and ensuring alignment with the schools early literacy approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Training and Facilitation
Deliver TEAapproved Texas Reading Academies content to K3 teachers in accordance with TEA guidelines and timelines.
Facilitate both virtual and inperson sessions with fidelity to the Reading Academies model.
Provide timely actionable feedback on teacher assignments and submissions through the Reading Academies platform.
Support teachers in making practical connections between Reading Academies learning and classroom implementation.
Classroom Observations and Coaching
Conduct regular classroom observations in K3 to monitor and support the implementation of Reading Academies Science of Reading practices and the Logic of English curriculum.
Provide targeted coaching and feedback to teachers that integrates key practices from the Science of Reading and Logic of English.
Collaborate with teachers to refine instructional strategies based on observation data with a focus on phonics phonemic awareness decoding fluency and comprehension.
Curriculum Alignment and Support
Help teachers connect Reading Academies concepts to the schools adopted curriculum especially Logic of English.
Offer support in lesson planning instructional design and classroom implementation that aligns with both TEA expectations and the schools literacy vision.
Ensure that coaching and training consistently reinforce structured literacy as defined by both TEA and the Logic of English framework.
Collaboration and Professional Development
Partner with school leaders and instructional staff to support literacy improvement efforts.
Participate in ongoing professional learning to remain current on TEA updates literacy research and best practices in coaching.
Maintain accurate records of teacher participation coaching cycles and implementation progress to inform instructional planning and program improvement.
Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in grades K3
Successful completion of the TEA Reading Academies (Comprehensive or Blended Pathway)
Willingness and ability to complete the TEA Reading Academies TraintheTrainer assessment and training
Strong knowledge of the Science of Reading and structured literacy practices
Excellent facilitation observation and coaching skills
Preferred:
TEA Reading Academies Cohort Leader certification (Comprehensive or Blended Pathway)
Previous experience as an instructional coach reading specialist or campus/district literacy lead
Strong background in using student data to inform instruction
Experience with Logic of English or other structured phonicsbased curricula
