School Lunch Monitor Part Time 10:45 1:45 Monday through Friday POSITION SUMMARY Awaken Christian Academy is committed to being a Christcentered biblically based community serving the students and families entrusted to us. Staff members are the schools most important resource and they are the primary caregivers to the students during the day. The Lunch Monitor plays a vital role in fostering a positive atmosphere for students as they engage in their meals and recreational activities. The position requires a commitment of 15 hours per week. JOB SUMMARY The Lunch Monitor provides a consistent presence in the lunchroom for the Middle and High School students. The role is essential in supporting the school environment by ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students during lunch and recess periods. This position enforces rules for behavior procedures and maintaining order among the students during the lunch breaks. The Lunch Monitor will observe students and work in collaboration with the Principal Dean of Students and Security Director to resolve student issues. This position models Christian beliefs thoughts and actions to the students as they provide support services. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Provide adequate supervision and support of middle and high school students in the Lunchroom under the direction of the principal.
- Assist school personnel in monitoring student activities and behavior providing support and encouragement to students during lunch activities.
- Maintains order in the lunchroom reinforcing student manners eating habits and cleanup procedures.
- Work cooperatively with staff and students to provide student support services.
- Keep the lunchroom equipment tables and physical environment clean and safe.
- Observes behavior communicates and reports issues to School staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience - High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Six months to oneyear experience. Previous school lunchroom experience a plus.
- Must be patient able to respond calmly and make rational decisions.
- Must be dependable and capable of working independently.
- Must be able to follow standard procedures in all situations.
- Must have excellent people skills with the ability to work well with students staff and parents.
Job Requirements - CPR/First Aid/AED must be certified within 90 days of hire.
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to communicate in English verbally and orally.
Physical Requirements - Must be able to able to maneuver around the school lunchroom and campus.
- Must be able to lift push or pull up to 50 lbs.
