Job Description

Hummingbird Scientific is expanding its team by adding another Applications Scientist to support our rapidly growing global customer base in insitu liquid and gas holder microscopy research.

This position would work closely with the customer as a technical expert in insitu liquid/gas cell microscopy from the first discussions about suitable hardware and product training to performing insitu microscopy experiments. Working with our engineering department to develop nextgeneration environmental cell hardware and methods is another important responsibility of this position. Finally the Applications Scientist will lead our technical marketing efforts by generating scientific content and presenting it to the microscopy community.

We have two TEMs in Hummingbird Scientifics inhouse TEM lab where we also often host visiting scientists. There are several new insitu TEM product development projects ongoing so there will be many opportunities to test and work with our new insitu microscope products and take the lead in interesting research collaborations.

We seek candidates with a curious mind and a handson attitude towards science and microscopy. This position requires one to wear different hats so multitasking and being a strong planner is essential.


Qualifications :

Key Qualifications:

  • In a research setting having handson experience with insitu TEM of liquid cell or gas cell sample holders.
  • Ability to write professionally visualize and present technical and scientific content
  • Comfortable at supporting and dealing with customers and collaborators in different countries
  • Experience with TEM SEM or Xray microscopy

Education:

  • MS or Ph.D. in Science or Engineering with a focus on liquid and gas environmental insitu Transmission Electron Microscopy

Optional Qualifications:

  • Industry experience in applications sales or marketing
  • Broad background in materials science chemistry or solidstate physics
  • Involvement in developing hardware or experimental setups for electron/xray microscopy
