The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Region RightofWay Engineering Unit is looking for a RightofWay (ROW) Agent 1/2/3 Flex to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
Base Salary Information:
RightofWay Agent 1: $25.88 Hourly (OT Eligible)
RightofWay Agent 2: $29.73 Hourly (OT Eligible)
RightofWay Agent 3: $34.25 Hourly (OT Eligible)


What you will be doing:

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities in Anchorage is seeking a dedicated individual for a permanent RightofWay (ROW) Agent 1/2/3 Flex position within the Central Region RightofWay Section RightofWay Engineering Unit. The primary purpose of this position is to research title. The successful applicant must possess extensive historical knowledge be familiar with and able to recover archived information contract order index and distribute title service information and serve in various capacities as needed. This position is responsible for gathering title information for projects reviews and inquiries. Does research which involves reviewing records understanding laws and ownership affecting rights of way. Orders reviews and maintains title reports plats and maps from various agencies and gathers all sorts of other information relating to highways. Does subdivision plat and section line easement vacation review and prepares comments. Also assists in the review of governmental land transfers.

This is a RightofWay (ROW) Agent 1/2/3 flex position where all levels perform similar duties with varying degrees of complexity responsibility and supervision. A ROW Agent 1 receives onthejob training and attends courses to learn the principles of the section working under close supervision on smaller assignments. After successfully completing the Flex Training Plan a ROW Agent 1 may advance to ROW Agent 2 which involves performing more complex tasks with greater independence and reduced oversight. ROW Agent 3 represents the senior level in the flex series taking on the most complex projects and assignments with a high degree of autonomy. At this level the agent often provides guidance and mentorship to lowerlevel agents and serves as a subject matter expert within the unit.

The working environment you can expect:

This position resides in the DOT&PF Central Region Headquarters building at 4111 Aviation Avenue in Anchorage Alaska. It is easily accessible by a paved multiuse path and bus routes 40 and 65. Located on the shore of the beautiful Lake Hood Seaplane Base near Ted Stevens International Airport. Office hours are flexible and allow for short work weeks in accordance with established policies. As a side benefit you will have easy access to bike & walking trails around Lake Hood. HybridTeleworking options are available upon completion of the mandatory probationary period and current department policies.

We are looking for an individual with the following competencies that will contribute to their success in this position:

  • Surveying: Knowledge of the concepts principles theories and methods used in the measurement or determination of land boundaries distances elevations areas angles and other features of the earths surface.
  • Legal Government and Jurisprudence: Knowledge of laws legal codes court procedures precedents legal practices and documents Government regulations Executive orders agency rules Government organization and functions and the democratic political process.
  • Research: Knowledge of the scientific principles methods and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry; including study design collection analysis and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results.

Special Note:
  • Valid Drivers License is required
  • Requires occasional travel within the State (normally 12 trips per year) with infrequent need for overnight stays.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. It may be filled at the RightofWay Agent 1RightofWay Agent 2 or RightofWay Agent 3 level depending on the applicants training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at a lower level promotion to the higher level will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
