Pulmonary Vascular Disease Lab


Job Summary

Working independently and under general supervision from a Research Manager and Principal Investigator provides support to clinical research studies. Will be working on clinical research studies focused primarily on pulmonary vascular disease.

The position may include being responsible for the following activities: preparing and submitting IRB submissions prescreen patients of suitability of potential participants for clinical trials assisting in the development and implementing patient recruitment strategies data collection and seeing research subjects in the CTC at times.



Qualifications

Coordinates the implementation both internally and externally of sponsored clinical research studies.

Working in concert with Principal Investigator develops and implements patient recruitment strategies.

Recruits and evaluates potential study patients.

Per protocol instruction conducts telephone interviews or schedules patient for study visit and screening.

May be required to perform clinical tests such as phlebotomy EKGs etc. Maintains contact with study participants and coordinates study visits to obtain protocol required tests/procedures

Answers any phone calls and inquiries regarding study protocol. Refers participants when appropriate to supervisor or clinical staff.

Develops organizes and/or maintains detailed clinical and research databases. May use programs such as excel and REDCap.

Responsible for collecting data and maintaining patient information database for study.

May be required to input data do basic data analysis and run various reports.

Maintains patients records as part of record keeping function.

In conjunction with Principal Investigator develops and implements new research protocols including design data collection systems and institutional review board approval.

Assisting with collection of regulatory documents for clinical studies and maintaining regulatory binder.

Recommends changes to research protocols and manages modifications to institutional review board protocols.

Performs literature searches as appropriate.

Performs basic laboratory testing on human blood and urine samples after training.

Assists PI with preparation for presentation and written published articles. Orders lab supplies and equipment as necessary.

Maintains collaborative team relationships with peers and colleagues. Attends meetings as required.

All other duties as assigned.

Responsible for supervision of research team

Act as a liaison between Research Assistants and the PI

College graduate or bachelors degree

At least one year of work experience in a clinical research setting. Sound independent judgement and competence in research methodologies.

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with the study participants.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to resolve technical or research problems and issues and to interpret the acceptability of data results.
  • Knowledge of clinical research protocols.
  • High degree of computer literacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects rights and individual needs.
  • Knowledge of data management programs.
  • Comfortable approaching patients in a clinical and inpatient setting for study recruitment.
  • Comfortable with pulmonary and cardiac anatomy and ability to learn disease sates related to pulmonaryheart disease.
  • Experience in clinical research public health or clinical setting (at least one year)
  • Two year commitment preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Professional office setting at Brigham and Womens Hospital. Aspects of research are performed in a multiple areas.
