The OT will be able to identify patients/customers: Inpatients Outpatients Home Health/Hospice patients SubAcute Unit patients (neonates to geriatrics). The OT is responsible for performing an agespecific assessment designed to gather data relevant to the patients individual needs. This includes assessment and evaluation of cognitive sensory neurological musculoskeletal functional and physiological status. The OT develops a plan of care performs treatment as indicated assesses patients response to treatment and assists with discharge planning. The OT utilizes exercise equipment and physical agents to improve strength balance coordination and range of motion and to decrease pain to restore a patients optimal mobility and functional ability. The OT provides education related to the treatment program disease process and prevention of further injuries to the patient family/caregiver and other members of the healthcare team. Depending on the location the OT will be expected to delegate and monitor treatment provided by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants. The OT will coordinate delegate and supervise responsibilities assigned to supportive staff (Rehabilitation Techs LATs etc.). The OT may be asked to create and participate in Community Engagement activities that focus on healthy lifestyle promotion preventative medicine and wellness topics. The OT will participate in operational and performance improvement aspects of the department. The OT will maintain awareness of budgetary and fiscal responsibility as it pertains to wages overtime productivity and continuing education. The OT will ensure that documentation is complete and charges are accurately entered on a timely basis. The OT will participate in all mandated departmental and organizational educational programs. This position will be at the Eau Claire Outpatient Hand Clinic.
Obtained or eligible to obtain a degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Educational Institution. Master of Occupational Therapy degree preferred. American Occupational Therapy Association Board Specialty or Certification preferred but not to read and communicate effectively in English. Strong written and verbal skills. Basic computer knowledge. Knowledge of Physical Medicine Occupational Therapy Modalities anatomy and physiology. Decision making and problem solving skills. Team building Therapy Licensed or eligible for Occupational Therapy License in the state of Wisconsin. Current BLS of Health Care Providers certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Drivers License may be required depending on location of hire.
