Summary/Objective:

Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster Ltd. (OAL) is Central Pennsylvanias premier orthopedic physician practice. The organization operates two freestanding ambulatory outpatient surgery centers North Pointe Surgery Center (NPSC) with locations in Lancaster and Lebanon counties. Currently the OAL team includes 18 Orthopedic Surgeons 2 Physiatrists 1 Sports Medicine PCP 1 Podiatrist 16 Physician Assistants 14 Physical Therapists and 5 Occupational Therapists supported by a staff of 350 professionals who work diligently to sustain the practice for the past 50 years.

The center is open Monday thru Fridays and closed weekends and holidays. There is no call required for this position.

Responsibilities include:

Physician anesthesiologists evaluate monitor and supervise patient care before during and after surgery delivering anesthesia leading the Anesthesia Care Team (MD/CRNA model) and ensuring optimal patient safety in a fastpaced ambulatory surgery practice. Physician anesthesiologists specialize in anesthesia care pain management and critical care medicine. The ideal candidate is a hardworking team player with a favorable work and/or training history. Physician anesthesiologists treat children adolescents and adults between our two locations in Lancaster and Lebanon. Procedures include orthopedic and sedation for pain procedures.

  • Active participation in the preanesthesia review process to ensure ASA level 13 and patient comorbidity are appropriate for ASC setting.
  • Evaluate patients to determine an accurate anesthetic plan for ASA levels 13.
  • Determine and administer the appropriate dosage of anesthesia during procedures.
  • Coordinate with doctors nurses technicians and other health care professionals.
  • Work with Anesthesia team including CRNAs.
  • Complete records of type and amount of anesthesia patient condition patient response and medical histories.
  • Assess patient recovery and removal to another room following surgery.
  • Order laboratory tests diagnostic procedures Xrays and clinical tests.
  • Candidate should also be able to effectively collaborate with referring physicians and other professionals to provide optimum care for each patient.
  • Actively participate in the turnover of rooms.
  • Be an active member of various committees and subcommittees as required by NPSC.
  • NPSC uses EPIC.
  • Participates in necessary staff in services and annual competencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Experience and Education:

  • Graduate of an approved training program in the United States.
  • Licensed in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Current American Board of Anesthesiology certification.
  • ACLS and PALS certified.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as anesthesiologist in an acute hospital setting.
  • Completion of the organizations credentialing process.
  • Work collaboratively with business staff clinical staff and physicians.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word).

  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients.

  • Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.
  • Working under stressful conditions.
