Introduction
Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of the Position:
To maximize profitability subject to the marketing policy by being in stock of the right product in the right quantity at the right price to achieve targeted sales gross profit and budgeted stock levels.
Focus Areas for the Position:
- Negotiating with Sales Representatives from Suppliers and maintaining comprehensive records of all transactions with Suppliers.
- Negotiating deals and prices to achieve competitive retail prices and budgeted gross profit for D.C. and Retail.
- Assisting retailers with store standards specs ranging pricing and promotions.
- Achieving targeted sales stock and GPs while minimizing out of stocks
- Managing promotions and ability to drive sales to retailers.
- Range selection and management with the inclusion of seasonal products.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric
- Thorough knowledge of buying systems and processes essential
- Excellent Negotiating communication and interpersonal skills (successful completion of a negotiation skills course will be advantageous)
- Thrives on challenge and a pressurized/demanding work environment
- Strong drive initiative sense of urgency and use of innovation to resolve business challenges.
- Degree in Business/Commerce or relevant diploma is required. (Marketing or supply chain management would be advantageous)
- Must have leadership skills and proven record recognising the coaching mentoring and training of fellow team members
- A minimum of 5 years buying experience would be advantageous
