Job Description

New England College of Optometry (NECO) prepares the next generation of eye care providers educators and innovators through a rigorous curriculum and extensive clinical experiences. NECO graduates compassionate and skilled optometrists prepared to practice in diverse settings. Located in the heart of Bostons Back Bay the College is a small independent graduate institution that currently enrolls students from 34 states and 8 countries.


NECOs Clinical Network is the patient care and clinical education subsidiary of the College and encompasses in addition to two owned and operated clinics a wide network of local national and international sites throughout which our students do their clinical training. As one of the largest providers of optometric services in Massachusetts our faculty and students provide optometric services to nearly 90000 patients annually in more than 43 locations including many of greater Bostons community health centers.


We are seeking a dedicated educator and clinician with the following qualifications and key responsibilities:


Qualifications:

Qualifications include at minimum a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree with TPA licensure (glaucoma and antiinfectives) in Massachusetts advanced professional credentials such as residency training or equivalent clinical experience appropriate credentials for a faculty appointment and an active commitment to excellence in patient care and teaching. Preference will be given to those who have had 35 years of experience in teaching and clinical care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver highquality didactic instruction in ocular disease and posterior segment conditions
  • Lead student labs and workshops fostering critical thinking and clinical reasoning
  • Prepare students for patient care and participate in our clinical network
  • Contribute scholarly to the field and on college committees
  • Deliver patient care at one of our clinic sites

This is a fulltime Assistant or Associate Professor position with the option for tenure or nontenure track and a salary commensurate with experience.
