Sous Chef Healthcare location

Wage range: $23.00/hr DOE

Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday

What you will do

Join a dedicated culinary team at your local community hospital where your passion for cooking directly supports the health comfort and wellbeing of patients staff and guests every day. As a Sous Chef youll bring creativity compassion and leadership to the kitchenhelping deliver highquality meals that nourish comfort and inspire. The Sous Chef is responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen. They provide professional leadership and direction to kitchen personnel and ensure that all recipes food preparations and presentations meet specifications and commitment to quality.

You will...

  • Support the Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations ensuring consistent highquality meal preparation and presentation.
  • Prepare scratchmade meals for patients staff guests and occasional community eventstailored to specific dietary needs.
  • Collaborate with dietitians and care teams to meet nutritional guidelines while keeping meals flavorful and appealing.
  • Oversee kitchen staff during shifts; train and mentor team members to support a positive efficient working environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations and hospital policies.
  • Monitor inventory and be responsible for ordering receiving and food storage to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure timely meal delivery for patients staff and visitors.

  • Maintain a clean safe and organized kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety standards (e.g. HACCP ServSafe).

  • Support menu planning and execution including special diets and texture modifications.

  • Oversee inventory control assist with ordering and manage food cost and waste.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and clinical dietitians to ensure therapeutic diets are followed.

  • Participate in quality assurance safety audits and food servicerelated initiatives.

What you will bring

  • High School Diploma or GED required; culinary certification or degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 23 years of culinary experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead cook role.

  • Culinary training or equivalent kitchen leadership experience in healthcare hospitality or foodservice.
  • A passion for cooking with purpose REAL food and serving others with care.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic diets and modified textures is a plusbut well train the right candidate.
  • Ability to lead a team calmly and effectively especially during busy service times.
  • ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain upon hire and State food handlers card.
