DescriptionA Carpenter is responsible for constructing installing and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood plywood and other materials. They work on a variety of projects from building frames for houses and commercial buildings to installing cabinets doors and flooring. A carpenter must be skilled in using tools reading blueprints and working with different types of materials to create precise and sturdy work. This role requires a combination of technical skills attention to detail and physical strength.
Responsibilities Maintenance & Repair
- Ensures that periodic equipment maintenance is carried out in order to control hospital and department costs and ensure the conservation of all hospital resources.
- Acts as a substitute for departmental staff until replacements arrive in an effort to ensure prudent departmental management and promote departmental effectiveness.
- Productivity
- Determines and solves problems concerning delays in work schedules in an effort to ensure timely and efficient project completion. Inspects work in progress in order to ensure job specification conformance.
- Always strives to make good use of time; seeks out more effective ways to complete task. Reasonably completes all duties scheduled during the work day without interference to the quality of work. Calculates quantity of materials needed for a job ensures that supplies are available at all times.
- Assists in developing and recommending annual department operating and capital budgets and monitors the economical use and procurement of personnel equipment and supplies.

- Maintains work area in a neat orderly and efficient manner at all times.
- Demostrates a complete understanding of all policies and procedures and accepted construction methods.
- Continually strives to learn and develop systems to prevent breakdown of equipment.
- Attends inhouse educational programs that are relative to the established carpenter duties.
- Consistently notifies supervisor of possible problem areas.
- Consistently demonstrates the ability to assess a situation and choose appropriate course of action.
Qualifications2 years building/hospital maintenance experience
Education
Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
Special Skills
Working knowledge of all crafts Considerable reaching stooping bending kneeling crouching Frequent prolonged standing/walking Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies.
