Primary Purpose
Tiger X Group Fitness Instructors are responsible for leading fun highenergy and motivational group fitness classes that support the health and wellbeing of participants. Instructors create inclusive dynamic workout experiences while ensuring safety proper technique and progression for all fitness levels.
Essential Functions
Lead regularly scheduled and assigned group fitness classes for Pacific Recreation Design and conduct classes in accordance with Baun Fitness Center protocols including: Proper warmup structured class routines and cooldown/stretch sessions Appropriate music selection that matches the intensity and format of the class Safe and effective exercises within your certified expertise Ongoing attention to participant safety and engagement Fostering a welcoming supportive and motivating environment Promoting and enforcing Pacific Recreation policies consistently Support fitnessrelated special events and departmental initiatives. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing participant questions and feedback. Assist with fitness equipment maintenance and inventory; make recommendations for future equipment needs. Secure substitutes and class coverage when unable to attend a scheduled class. Clock in/out for all hours worked; track and report participant attendance after each class. Communicate major concerns incidents or equipment issues directly to professional staff. Arrive on time and prepared for classes appointments or meetings. Attend all staff meetings inservices and any required individual checkins. Create a physically safe environment for participants of all abilities. Instructors must be capable of performing a variety of movements including aerobic exercises jogging dancing stepping marching hopping skipping jumping bending stretching and lifting light weights. Perform other duties as assigned. This position serves as Campus Security Authority ( CSA ) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported them. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED . Current fitness certification from a Pacific Recreationapproved organization (e.g. ACSM ACE NASM NSCA AFAA NFPT NPTI Zumba etc.). Current CPR / AED certification or obtain within 30 days of hire. Inhouse certification may be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong public speaking and communication skills. Holds two national certifications in different group fitness formats or Holds one national certification and a Bachelors degree in a related field. At least one year of teaching or training experience in group fitness or related settings. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Experience in advancing diversity equity inclusion and social justice in a campus or community setting. Ability to integrate culturally responsive practices into instruction and programming.
Work Schedule
Classes are scheduled Monday through Sunday and may include early morning hours afternoon hours and evening hours.
