You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailPerforms professional accounting and supervisory work in the area of financial reporting with primary responsibility for monitoring a variety of complex funds preparing financial statements and reports reconciling accounts developing and implementing accounting systems reviewing interpreting implementing and ensuring compliance with: Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements interpretations and standards; State of Florida Rules of the Auditor General; and Federal and State of Florida audit and reporting requirements and supervising a small staff of professional and technical employees that perform similar work. Employees assigned to this classification are expected to exercise considerable independent professional judgment and initiative in solving complex accounting problems modifying and/or designing systems and procedures and coordinating staff to ensure managements financial information needs are met. Work is performed under the direction of the Assistant Controller and performance is reviewed through periodic audits observations analysis of statements and reports and evaluation of results obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or closely related field plus four (4) years of local government accounting and financial reporting or public accounting (including auditing and consulting) experience three (3) years of which must have been responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of a local government or auditing local governments two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification required or must be obtained within one (1) year of hire.
