Paraprofessionals provides social physical and academic support and/or supervision in general and special education settings including but not limited to the cafeteria classrooms recess and services may include ambulatory eating toileting assistance behavior management academic interventions/enrichment and data collection.

Hours: Varies 77.25 hours per day; 8:15am 3:45pm or 9:30 approx 5:15/5:30 pm

No Nights Weekends or Hollidays

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• 3660 credit hours from an accredited college/university OR DESE approved 20hour substitute certification coursepreferred.
• Missouri substitute certificationpreferred see how to obtain below.
• Two (2) years working with students/childrenpreferred.
• Ability to relate to students staff and parents in a positive manner
• Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
• Ability to follow written and oral communication
• Ability to use word processing and data entry systems
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally
• Ability to squat bend kneel reach walk standfrequently
• Ability to problem solve situations in a professional and logical manner
• Ability to remain calm and patient at all times
• Ability to motivate students for classroom achievements

An individual who holds this position is required to:

• Assist students with disabilities according to their individualized needs including transferring to and from wheelchairs lifting or positioning
• Assist students with physical care including feeding bathroom needs and personal hygiene
• Assist in managing the behavior of students
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
• Maintain confidentiality of information about children and their families in accordance with Board policy and law
• Participate in staff development training programs faculty meetings and special events when requested by administration
• Help supervise arrival and departure of students and provide supervision and support in multiple settings throughout the school day
• Follow instructions from teachers and administrators

The position is in a regular school setting that is noisy and active. Occassional outdoor activities are required such as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.
