Description

Demco is seeking an individual to lead our assembly/finish department. Finishers will complete the trailer to make it road ready by adding tires hydraulics lights tarps stickers etc. Qualified candidates should have experience in leadership or supervision along with computer experience including Outlook Word and Excel. Hours are Monday Thursday 6am4:30pm and Fridays 6am10am with all day Fridays potential based on production.


Primary Duties:

  1. Communication with other Team Leads and employees ensuring team is notified of announcements.
  2. Evaluate manpower daily with Group Lead to line balance your area and meet production goals.
  3. Promote safety by using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and having the correct equipment available for employees.
  4. Promote employees to submit near misses. Correct or fix any safety hazards immediately or seek assistance to help you correct them.
  5. Perform cycle counts in Epicor inventory audits and adjustments as requested.
  6. Ensure that all Finish processes and procedures are followed and performed.
  7. Train employees on all processes and procedures log them and submit logs to HR.
  8. Review your departments red tags to find root cause submit times and close when complete. Contact Problem Solving Taskforce for assistance. Use QRS0105 Demco Action Plan to document.
  9. Implement solutions to prevent rework from reoccurring within your department.
  10. Submit Request for Change (RFCs) & continuous improvement suggestions to help with red tags and rework you cant control.
  11. Communicate Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) to your employees that have been sent to you via the ECN notification emails.
  12. Perform and promote 6S within and around your department to keep things neat clean and organized.
  13. Lead daily huddle board meetings to understand frustrations and assist with resolving them.
  14. Teach train and coach your employees how to accomplish daily production. Utilize Training Within Industry (TWI) methods.
  15. Perform random TWI audits of Group Leads and new hires to make sure new hires have been trained properly and they feel comfortable performing their daily work tasks.
  16. Ensure productivity of all employees making sure they stay on task and on schedule. Make sure all parts are staged and accounted for prior to assembly.
  17. Promote employees to submit Maintenance Request Forms as needed.
  18. Set up and monitor Production Kanban items as needed.
  19. Interview test and provide input for hiring new Finish department employees.
  20. Compile and submit to HR new hire checklist and training documents.
  21. Perform employee reviews/ 1on1s and communicate information to HR department.
  22. Maintain employee skills matrix and share this information with HR department.
  23. Check time clock & perform admin duties in Paylocity for PTO etc.
  24. Verify all Finish QA paperwork is being filled out. Perform Layered Process Audits (LPAs) to verify process is working.
  25. Communicate and coordinate with Scheduling on any issues with the build schedule.
  26. Monitor inventory and communicate needs to Purchasing and Material Planning to meet weekly production.
Requirements

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Must have computer experience including Outlook Excel and Word
  • Ability to bend and crawl under trailers
  • Able to read and use measuring tools accurately
  • Be safety minded
  • Attention to detail and a high standard of quality
  • Must comply to ISO 9001 required policies
  • Must be a team player who can work effectively in a team environment
  • Good interpersonal verbal communication and active listening skills
  • Able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and push/pull 100 pounds occasionally
