QUALIFICATIONS:Certification or licensure in social work human services family services counseling or other field closely related to providing social services to families of young children
REPORTS TO:Family Health Disabilities Facilitator
SUPERVISES:Students and Families
JOB GOAL:Work in collaboration with staff to ensure children and families receive
comprehensive services according to Head Start Performance standards
TERM:Nine Months
SALARY:Head Start Teacher Nine Month Salary Schedule
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Instructional Responsibilities
1. Recruit enroll and obtain appropriate records of children and families to ensure full
enrollment and waitlists.
2. Actively participate in parent or group meetings community collaborations and
affiliations in order to advocate for Head Start children and families.
3. Ensure health requirements are met according to Head Start Performance Standards
4. Perform recordkeeping including written documentation scheduled reports and
mandated reporting in a timely accurate and confidential manner.
5. Ensure regular communication with families regarding screenings assessments and
surveys in order to provide needed information regarding medical psychological
disabilities and social services as needed.
6. Partner with the families on assigned caseload to identify child and family needs and
appropriate ways of meeting those needs through family goals and referrals.
7. Refer families and children to resources within RPSB Head Start and community
organizations for social service needs as necessary.
8. Conduct home visits in conjunction with education staff and as social service needs
arise.
9. Attend or facilitate meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor. 10. Ongoing professional development through education role modeling mentoring
and training.
11. Assist teaching staff to meet licensing requirements for classroom.
12. Demonstrate an understanding of child growth and development showing respect
for the individuality of every child.
13. Ensure effective transition planning for children with disabilities and their
families.
II. Professional Responsibilities

B. To maintain good public relations making positive contributions to parents understanding of pupils progress
C. To be ethical in contacts with parents colleagues and students

E. To establish and execute a professional growth and selfevaluation plan in accordance with
the Rapides Parish School Board Personnel Evaluation Plan
