Job Description

Bishop Dunne Catholic School is seeking a Math Teacher with Department Chair responsibilities for theAcademic Year.

Are you an experienced math professional with a desire to be a department leader The ideal candidate will have experience as a leader in curriculum and pedagogy who can inspire a group of educators while the department redesigns the curriculum and reevaluates the pedagogy. The department chair has the responsibility of leading managing academic coaching and evaluating department staff.

Bishop Dunne is the only Catholic diocesan school that enrolls students in grades six through twelve. The Bishop Dunne student body mirrors the diversity of Dallas with over 75% identifying as students of color and approximately half the students are Catholic.

Job Requirements:

The candidate will be a dedicated professional who understands the joys and demands of teaching Math at the secondary level and has an indepth knowledge of the subject matter. Teachers are expected to develop daily lessons that meet the goals of the classes complete grading maintain an advisory group and lead advisory group meetings as well as perform all basic administrative duties (ex. maintain attendance records accurate grade book comment writing). Our teachers are fully engaged in the life of the school and inspire students to reach their potential.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Qualifications include:

An undergraduate degree in Math or at least 18 graduate credits in Math from an accredited university.

A minimum of 12 education credits are required. A valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned is preferred.

The ideal candidate should have 57 years of experience teaching multiple levels of Middle School Math Algebra Geometry and Calculus.

Other preferred qualifications include an ability to teach AP and dual credit courses.

Excellent active listening negotiation and presentation skills.

Strong interpersonal communications skills; competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization.

Solid technology skills for use in instructional and professional tasks

General Duties:

The mission of the Catholic school is to Teach as Jesus did thereby mandating teachers in our schools to be reflections of Christs love and concern. This position reports to the principal and has decisionmaking responsibilities within the framework of school policies philosophy organization and curriculum.
