JOB SUMMARY:
Assist students in the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual physical emotional and psychological growth and maturation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Oregon teaching license valid for grades 912 with a CTE Endorsement or ability to qualify for one. Ability to teach welding. Use and understanding of technology in the teaching of Welding. Knowledgeable and skilled not only in content but in skills hands on engagement in learning tasks learning styles and cooperative learning approaches. Ability to work as a team member and communicate effectively. Ability to work well with students. Ability to work with to work in a team and to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with staff students and parents.
Experience: Experience preferred but not required.
Education: Completion of a higher education Bachelors degree or Masters degree in education/ teaching.
Certification Required: A valid teaching license (or ability to obtain) CTE Licensure.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Language Skills: Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language. Ability to write memoranda correspondence lessons plans reports and student achievement summaries in English. Ability to effectively present information in onetoone and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers supervisor(s) staff students parents and community.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee counters while performing the essential functions of this job. Works in a school environment. Able to use a telephone operate a computer and use other office equipment. Able to drive to other program sites and meetings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year in accordance with negotiated agreement between licensed teachers and the district.
CLASSIFICATION/LOCATION:Licensed Regular FullTime Position at Newberg High School for theschool year.
CALENDAR/BENEFITS:8 hours per day; 190 day contract; Position includes 2 days forNew Teacher InService prior to start date.
Salary range TBD once negotiations forare complete(Current range of theLicensed Salary Schedule $48741 $100225). Newberg School District pays 6% PERS contribution provides a generous insurance cap longterm disability and life insurance.
