Responsible for the daily activities of the nursing staff to facilitate optimal patient care. Collaborates with the Nurse Manager Clinical Nurse Specialist and others in the implementation and evaluation of nursing and causality assurance and all educational activities on assigned unit and related duties.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patients appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.

2. Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.

3. Triage patient calls to appropriate provider/department

4. Develops and coordinates individual plan of care.

5. Directs supervises coordinates and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical setting.

6. Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.

7. Documents patient care according to standard procedure.

8. Develops implements/coordinates and documents Education Plan for patient/family/ significant other.

9. Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.

10. Participates in and supports Nursing Governance activities.

11. Assumes responsibility for professional growth. Assists in education and development of staff.

12. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.

13. Provide appropriate patient information to insurance companies for medication and treatment requests.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

1. Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.

2. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

3. Two years of current tertiary care.

4. Demonstrated nursing leadership experience.

5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

1. Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

Unless certification licensure or registration is required an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
