Job Description

Position Overview

Now Hiring! Head Coach for Softball Athletics!

Canisius University a member of the Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference seeks a fulltime Head Coach for Softball. The head coach for softball ensures the Canisius softball program is administered with constant commitment to compliance with all institutional conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and develop all aspects of the NCAA Division I softball program.
  • Identify recruit and retain qualified studentathletes for the Canisius University softball program.
  • Organize and execute team and individual skill instruction for players.
  • Schedule and coordinate conditioning drills and workouts in conjunction with Athletic Performance Staff.
  • Advise and monitor the academic development of studentathletes.
  • Scout opponents prepare game plans and instruct the studentathletes within the softball program.
  • Responsible for budget preparation and administration.
  • Coordinate with the Sport Supervisor the competition schedule.
  • Oversee team travel and recruiting travel arrangements.
  • Coordinate official and unofficial visits written correspondence and telephone communications.
  • Record all required team activities practice logs and recruiting activities within institutional systems.
  • Promote the softball program to the public assist in community relations and fundraising activities.
  • Market and direct the Canisius University softball camps/clinics.
  • Supervise assistant coaches and/or other program support staff.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelors degree is required masters degree is preferred.
  • Coaching and/or playing experience is required; coaching playing and/or recruiting experience at the Division I Level is preferred.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Previous experience supervising communicating with and instructing studentathletes is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of studentathletes parents coaches and administrators.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Drivers license with a positive driving record per the Universitys insurance provider (with/or upon moving to NYS obtain a NYS drivers license within NYS DMV residency guidelines after hire).

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $60000 to $69000 annually

Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidates actual base pay will be based on jobrelated nondiscriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.
