Purpose:To contribute to the efficient operation of the Nutrition Department.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School graduate or GED
- Some college coursework preferred
- Must have an Associates Degree or have a minimum of 48 semester hours of higher education coursework or pass a district test
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to work cooperatively with all stakeholders
- Strong human relations commitment to working as a team player
- Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets perform data analysis and word processing
- Strong organizational proficiency
- Bilingual preferred
Experience:
- Three (3) years of experience as secretary preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Records Reports and Correspondence
- Receive maintenance and custodial work orders and report to appropriate department.
- Create organize and maintain all employee files (must maintain confidentiality).
- Keep updated spreadsheet of all keys issued and returned.
- Maintain list of all approved nutrition employees who drive district vehicles. Inform those whose drivers license is to expire and obtain copy of drivers license when renewed. Communicate with Transportation Department on all changes.
- Generate all personal action requests for new hires.
- Schedule employees for food handler/manager certification and recertification classes.
- Keep record of all kitchen Health Inspections and ensure other required permits/manifests are up to date.
- Update health inspection information in TXUNPS annually.
- Assist with annual performance evaluation forms.
- Ensure all required employee training is completed and forms are received (includes beginning of year trainings etc.)
Clerical Support
- Receive visitors vendors routes telephone calls and records messages.
- Plan format and type documents (i.e. menus correspondence reports and memos). Send necessary requests to Print Shop.
- Disseminate data from employee files upon request. Assist new employees with necessary paper work and occasionally conduct orientation meetings for new employees.
- Expedite departmental incoming and outgoing mail.
- Initiate budgetary expenditures (i.e. ordering supplies printing services etc.)
- Assist in organizing materials and facilities for meetings and inservices.
- Gather information for End of Year Banquet and Awards for Nutrition employees and distribute banquet tickets and awards.
- Provide support during audits.
- Respond to parental/staff inquires.
Other
- Must obtain minimum required annual Professional Standard training hours per USDA regulations.
- Must attend required training inservice and work related activities.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of NonInstructional Paraprofessional Personnel.

Salary schedule with 3% of midpoint increase approved by the Board. Salary schedule soon to be released.
