Job Description

TITLE:Social Emotional Behavioral HealthLead

POSTION TYPE:TCHR

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:


Required:

  1. Valid Iowa teaching license (appropriate endorsement code for grade levels)or Statement of Professional Recognition
  2. Minimum of three years of teaching experience (or educational setting experience for a Statement of Professional Recognition)

Desired:

  1. Masters degree in School Counseling Special Education School Psychology School Social Work or other related field.
  2. Experience working with students who exhibit chronic behavior concerns.
  3. Experience planning and delivering professional development.
  4. Experience working with diverse urban highneed students.
  5. Experience in the development and implementation of effective/social skills lessons

Skills Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge practice and evidence in effective teaching practices specific knowledge in functional behavior.
  2. Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  3. Strong collaboration and problem solving skills.
  4. Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Social Emotional Behavioral Health Lead will assist building administration in the implementation of a schoolwide MTSS for behavior by providing direct service to staff and students to improve student behavior and overall student outcomes. The SEBH Lead will provide professional development and consultation for staff leadership support to building administration and will provide individual interventions for students receiving Tier 3 supports. This position will establish rapport with students staff parents and community to ensure the success of all students.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist building leadership to implement a schoolwide system of tiered interventions for behavior including progress monitoring systems to inform implementation.
  2. Model and coach how to use evidence based behavioral and social/emotional practices for school personnel with a strong focus on special education teachers and SEBH Interventionists.
  3. Provide leadership to design a schoolwide system to collect and analyze student behavior data.
  4. Teach model and coach the Functional Behavioral Process and the development and implementation of functionbased Behavior Intervention Plans.
  5. Plan deliver and evaluate professional development around social skill development and teaching student behavior.
  6. Work with the school leadership team to develop resulting action steps and monitoring systems for the School Improvement Plan.
  7. Monitor the implementation of intervention systems; identify needed technical assistance share lessons learned and ensure effective communication channels at the school and district levels related to student behavior systems.
  8. Develop relationships with students school personnel and families.
  9. Serve as the Social and Emotional Learning Champion.
  10. Provide support and training on data collection and analysis to develop implement monitor and adapt interventions to ensure effective services.
  11. Regularly communicate with staff students and families.
  12. Remain current with research developments and contemporary interpretations of practices to support positive student behavior and implement tiered interventions systems for behavior.
  13. Promote and participate in building meeting structures (MTSS PLC and other applicable systems) to support student achievement and behavioral success.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for every DMPS position):

  1. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  2. Maintain confidentiality.
  3. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public students and other employees.
  4. Assist with other duties as may be assigned.

DAYS:195 days HOURS:7.75 hours

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Standing walking sitting bending/stooping reaching/pushing/pulling

WORKING CONDITIONS:Mostly indoors with some outdoor responsibilities during recess and arrival/dismissal
