Supports environmental health and workplace safety programs to maintain and promote a healthy and safe environment for staff volunteers patients and visitors that will reduce the financial risks associated with injuries and illnesses. Inspects and surveys areas and activities to minimize potential risks and investigates incidents. Leads in the development implementation and maintenance of safety policies and procedures and provides education and/or training to help staff understand and comply with the requirements of the environmental health & workplace safety programs.Job Description:
EDUCATION:
Bachelors: Environmental Health/Sciences Public Safety Occupational Health & Safety Industrial Safety or related field or equivalent education/experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
8 years experience in emergency management.
8 years experience in hazardous materials/waste or medical waste handling/program management.
8 years experience in healthcare environmental health and/or other safety industry.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of applicable safety regulations protocols and procedures
Knowledge of legislative and regulatory protocols and requirements relating to workplace safety and injury prevention such as Title 22 Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) CalOSHA The Joint Commission (TJC) Dept of Health etc.
Understands hospital and/or ambulatory healthcare operations.
Ability to define issues collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Demonstrates a proactive approach in identifying and addressing issues and concerns.
Collaboration skills to facilitate open sharing of information and cooperation with various stakeholders to problem solve and achieve desired results/outcome.
Displays a customer service focus in all decisions and actions.
Ability to communicate through verbal and written means and to present information to a variety of audiences.
Ability to create and translate data into reports and presentations for appropriate audience.
Organization skills to effectively manage and/or reprioritize activities and projects to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of responsiveness.
Ability to interact and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
Demonstrates respect for cultural and linguistic differences and promotes an inclusive work environment.
Demonstrates initiative in providing feedback/input to improve workflow/processes.

Pay Range is $56.03 to $84.05 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidates experience education skills licensure and certifications department equity training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
