About the Role
You will be an important member of our clinical team by ensuring the delivery of highquality personcentred care to all patients. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to provide effective and efficient evidencebased care whilst also demonstrating commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
These positions are aimed at HMOs who are considering Anaesthesia as a career.
The positions involve 6 months anaesthesia and 6 months in other critical care rotations in intensivecare and/or emergency medicine. Rotation through the department of Anaesthesia will be in either term 1 or term 2 to enable you to gain experience and suitable referees should you plan on applying for the training program. There will also be an opportunity to provide anaesthesia at St. Vincents on the Park. Residents provide anaesthesia under supervision and work38 hours per week for elective surgery. There are requirements to do fortnightly evening shifts (to 8pm) and 1 weekend of day shifts every 46 weeks.
Classifications for this position will range from HM13 ($98224.88 pro rata per annum) salary sacrifice and excluding super.

About Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine
We perform around 14000 anaesthetics per year covering all surgical specialties except for paediatrics and obstetrics.
We are a leading cardiothoracic and neurosurgical centre performing large volumes of cases. We have a strong commitment to regional anaesthesia and analgesia with over 20% of cases being carried out using regional techniques. We are leaders in the use of ultrasound for regional anaesthesia and intraoperative echocardiography.
There is a teaching programme tailored specifically to HMOs and a weekly continuing education meeting for all staff. Registrar teaching also occurs weekly. This programme has resulted in a 95% pass rate by our trainees at the final FANZCA exam at their first attempt.
We have an anaesthetic simulator on site which our staff and trainees use to improve their management of anaesthetic emergencies. There is strong clinical research activity resulting inmultiple publications per year and engagement in multicentre trials.
