Job Description

The Assistant Coach provides assistance to the head coach with all areas of team administration and management including practice sessions conditioning workouts monitoring of studentathletes academic progress and evaluation and recruiting of prospective studentathletes for the team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the head coach and other staff members with routine administrative responsibilities of the assigned sport program and management of the men/womens team.
  • Coaches at the direction of the head coach provide instruction demonstration and teaching the sports dynamics to studentathletes to ensure maximum potential of individuals and the team.
  • Recruits and scouts prospective studentathletes from high school junior and community colleges.
  • Makes recommendations to the head coach regarding potential of studentathletes.
  • Stay current understand and adhere to all NAIA guidelines and maintain uptodate rosters and other information required by athletic department. Will report any violations of these established rules which may arise to the proper officials.
  • Assist head coach in coordinating team travel arranging competitive schedule organizing and scheduling practice sessions updating and maintaining studentathlete recruiting databases updating and maintaining files (both hard copy and video) of opponents.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining a comprehensive public relations program.
  • Assist in managing the operations of sport camps and/or clinics.
  • Assist in baseball fundraising and booster events in accordance with NAIA Red River Athletic Conference and institutional rules policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations concerning studentathlete conduct appearance road games punctuality and other areas.
  • Assist in transportation of athletes to/from athletic events which may include driving a fullsize passenger van or other large capacity vehicle.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) year previous high school collegiate or higherlevel coaching and playing experience.
  • General knowledge of NAIA and NCAA rules.
  • Knowledge of word processing spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
  • Must have a State of Texas or Arkansas class C vehicle operators license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Acceptable driving record and periodic completion of van safety course
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
      • Working in all weather conditions exposure to high noise levels standing throughout the day the ability to use a loud voice at practices and events and physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.

  • This position may be required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations in accordance with System policy and is further required to complete FERPA and HIPAA training as a condition of employment within a reasonable timeframe after employment and on an asneeded basis thereafter.
