    SUMMARY: Position Title: Principal Intern Elementary Middle FLSA Status: Exempt Department: Elementary School Administration Reports To: Elementary or Middle School Principal

    Learns the essential responsibilities and roles of building leadership while assisting the principal in the daytoday management and supervision of the total school program.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
    • Serves as administrative leader of the school in the absence of the building principal.
    • Assists the principal in analyzing test data and in developing plans for improvement of scores.
    • Stays abreast of current research in elementary/middle level education.
    • Assists with the administration of a program of student discipline and interacts with students to encourage positive behavior.
    • Assists with staff evaluations
    • Assigns substitute teachers and staff.
    • Supervises and/or assigns staff to ensure supervision of students at all school events before during and after the school day.
    • Develops innovative ideas and concepts regarding professional growth and participates with staff.
    • Maintains positive relationships with students parents and the community.
    • Maintains cooperative liaison with attendance district elementary middle and high schools.
    • Assists with coordinating the development of the master teaching schedule.
    • Assists in scheduling special events during the school day.
    • Maintains regular attendance.

    JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community.
    • Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
    • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of School Trustees policies.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Assists the principal in managing employees.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
    Masters degree in elementary education or working to secure a masters and administrative license within two years; publicschool teaching experience.
    Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
    Highly effective classroom teacher with demonstrated leadership abilities

    CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:
    Valid Indiana elementary school administrators license or working to secure a license within 2 years.
    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    • Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
    • Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators teachers school board members and the general public.
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to prepare project monitor and document funds from multiple sources.
    REASONING ABILITY:
    • Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Ability to use available information and develop realistic longterm and shortterm plans for curricular goals.
