Position Summary

The Quality Inspector role is responsible for the daytoday recording and validation of material between customers vendors and operations. He/she is able to learn and/or perform receiving inspection duties as well as customer source duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspects materials and products for conformance to specifications
  • Inspects finished product for quality and customer requirements
  • Inspects finished or inprocess fabricated or mechanical parts equipment and assemblies of a complex nature and determines acceptance or rejection
  • Carry out policies and procedures for testing and evaluating product
  • Responsible for operating mechanical and electrical test equipment
  • Working to Standard Operating Procedures (work instructions)
  • Assists in recording of nonconformities of parts/product
  • Assisting in the controlling/segregating of conforming vs. nonconforming parts /product
  • Evaluates parts or assemblies against standards blueprints engineering and specifications
  • Leads and directs the work of others and assists in the training of less experienced inspectors
  • Work safely at all times and report any unsafe conditions or injuries to your supervisor or manager immediately
  • Assists in the training of less experienced inspectors
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision or management
  • Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with others
  • Displays willingness to make decisions; exhibits sound and accurate judgment; supports and explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate people in decisionmaking process; makes timely decisions
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality

Position Requirements

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience:

  • 35 years of experience in the field or in a related field.
  • High school diploma or GED and up to one year work experience preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in all areas of inspection
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and Geometric Dimensioning is desirable but must be willing and able to learn within a six (6) months time
  • Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts practices and procedures
  • Ability to perform calculations utilizing arithmetic such as addition subtraction multiplication and division normally attained through elementary school education
  • Ability to perform calculations utilizing algebra and fractions
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Technical Skills

  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel Word PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Must be fully proficient in BP & Customer specification reading and application
  • Ability read interpret and update FAI requirements as needed
  • Ability to create and update work instructions as needed
  • Knowledge of Catia or Enovia Viewer

Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication skills oral and written
  • Ability to communicate simple facts with courtesy and clarity
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop kneel crouch or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Physical and Environmental Demands

Manufacturing environment may be exposed to noise levels dust grime and heat.

Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Immigration Compliance Plan
