Job Description

Floating Family Assistant Worker Youth Day Treatment

Location: Cape Girardeau MO Jackson MO Perryville MO Ste. Genevieve MO
Full Time: NonExempt 40 hours/week
Base Pay: $19 20.40/hour dependent upon relevant experiences
Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in a Human Services Field; or
  • Associates degree and two years of experience working with mental health or child population; or
  • Two years of college and two years of experience working with mental health or child populations.
  • Must hold or obtain by start date MO Class E Drivers License (Class D for IL Residents) and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCCs Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.

Community Counseling Center is looking for a Youth Day Treatment Floating Family Assistant Worker for our Cape Girardeau Jackson and Perryville YDT programs. This position works closely with our youth population that suffers from mental and behavioral health issues which impacts their daytoday activities. This position would be responsible for floating between the various programs as needed. Mileage reimbursement is given and the employees home base would be dependent upon their location.

The Program
The Youth Day Treatment program provides services to youth in grades k12 who require a stepdown or an alternative to inpatient care or partial hospitalization or as transitional care following an inpatient or partial hospitalization stay in order to facilitate return to the community or to prevent or minimize the need for more intense or restrictive level of treatment. The Day Treatment Program provides services that are more intensive than outpatient treatment and will serve persons who need a structured behavioral health setting for daytime activities.

The Job

As a Family Assistance Worker you would be responsible for providing interventions to children in the Day Treatment Program for the purpose of helping children remain in the school community and in the home. You would be working with the children on teaching skills such as: communication deescalation behaviors coping techniques and many more. It is important to note that we do see various escalations through this program however it is an extremely rewarding experience to see the clients meet their treatment goals and transition out of the Youth Day Treatment program and back into the regular school settings.

Essential Functions

  1. Attend to the needs of and provide assistance to children during Day Treatment activities and within the community under the direction of the Day Treatment Manager.
  2. Give feedback regarding behavior skills and peer interactions during Treatment Team Meetings.
  3. Teach skills and modeling appropriate prosocial interactions.
  4. Provide complete and timely documentation as per policy and procedures.
  5. Attend to the needs of children through phone calls to parents related to pick up times
  6. Work with an integrated treatment team including case managers psychiatrists and the schools administrative staff to provide consistent care.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Ancillary staff shall meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Individual with a bachelors degree in child development psychology social work or education; or
  • Individual with an associate degree with two (2) years experience in related mental health or child related fields; or
  • Individual with two (2) years of college and two (2) years experience in related mental health or child related fields; or
  • Occupational therapist; or
  • Physical therapist; or
  • Assistant behavior analyst

Staff must have proof of continuous auto insurance must be able to possess a MO Class E license and successfully complete the required CPR/First Aid and ProACT Training.
