Job Description

Vertex is currently seeking a Transportation Compliance Advisor to join our team in Sherwood Park Alberta. Were looking for a detailoriented and experienced professional who thrives in a structured fastpaced environment. If you have a solid background in managing National Safety Code (NSC) compliance for fleet and drivers this is your opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our transportation operations meet and exceed regulatory standards.

What Youll Do:
  • Manage and oversee Vertexs Transportation Compliance Program ensuring full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and internal company policies.
  • Audit and maintain driver logs driver files vehicle maintenance records and trip inspections to meet NSC and DOT standards.
  • Assist hiring managers with onboarding and documentation for commercial drivers.
  • Develop and implement training programs including driver evaluations and periodic retraining initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to drivers and managers on compliance matters including Hours of Service TDG DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Conduct internal audits and analyze carrier profiles across multiple jurisdictions tracking compliance metrics and reporting to management.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Safety Team on incident investigations and safety fitness evaluations.
  • Use GPS and telematics systems to support compliance monitoring and enhance fleet safety.
  • Travel as needed to support compliance initiatives across various locations.
What You Bring:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with transportation safety and compliance programs.
  • Indepth knowledge of NSC DOT and FMCSA regulations including provincial and federal compliance standards.
  • Handson experience with driver log auditing fleet compliance and crossborder operations.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with sharp attention to detail.
  • A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel Word and Outlook.
  • A valid drivers license and a safe driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.

  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (inoffice)
