Vertex is currently seeking a Transportation Compliance Advisor to join our team in Sherwood Park Alberta. If you have a solid background in managing National Safety Code (NSC) compliance for fleet and drivers this is your opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our transportation operations meet and exceed regulatory standards.
What Youll Do:
- Manage and oversee Vertexs Transportation Compliance Program ensuring full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and internal company policies.
- Audit and maintain driver logs driver files vehicle maintenance records and trip inspections to meet NSC and DOT standards.
- Assist hiring managers with onboarding and documentation for commercial drivers.
- Develop and implement training programs including driver evaluations and periodic retraining initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to drivers and managers on compliance matters including Hours of Service TDG DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Conduct internal audits and analyze carrier profiles across multiple jurisdictions tracking compliance metrics and reporting to management.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Safety Team on incident investigations and safety fitness evaluations.
- Use GPS and telematics systems to support compliance monitoring and enhance fleet safety.
- Travel as needed to support compliance initiatives across various locations.
What You Bring:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with transportation safety and compliance programs.
- Indepth knowledge of NSC DOT and FMCSA regulations including provincial and federal compliance standards.
- Handson experience with driver log auditing fleet compliance and crossborder operations.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills with sharp attention to detail.
- A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel Word and Outlook.
- A valid drivers license and a safe driving record.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
