Job Description
DNV USA Inc. seeks a Surveyor (multiple openings)to work at our office in Katy Texas.
Job Duties:
- Work on major vessel conversions alterations or any technical matters involving all types of vessels.
- Attend vessels for surveys.
- Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the Rules Regulations Instructions Guidelines and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management.
- Work onsite surveys during drydocking and inservice.
- Support other class activities when necessary.
- Maintain the confidentiality of Clients business processes designs developments and documentation at all times.
- Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of the organization.
- Exhibit customeroriented focus through promoting DNV and by acting as a technical resource and support for customers.
- Support in technical service management to local client. Additional responsibilities may be required as needed.
- This position requires 20% domestic and 5% international travel.
- Role allows periodic work from home as projects permit within a reasonable commuting distance of the Katy TX office.

Bachelors degree in Marine Engineering Ocean Engineering Naval Architecture Structural Engineering Offshore Engineering Nautical Engineering Marine Engineering Technology Civil Engineering Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electronics Engineering or related engineering field and one (1) year of experience as (all levels): Marine Engineer/Surveyor Marine Surveyor/Auditor Surveyor/Auditor Marine Auditor Marine Surveyor Surveyor Surveyor/Engineer Marine Engineer Technical Officer Naval Architect or related role where required experience gained.
Special Skills:
Also requires one (1) year of experience in the following:
- Inspection of ships in service and in dry dock;
- International codes and conventions;
- Statutory surveys on behalf of Flag Administrations on dry cargo vessels oil and chemical tankers and lifting appliances;
- Compliance with operating standards and vessel safety standards;
- Attending vessels for surveys on dry cargo vessels oil and chemical tankers and lifting appliances; and
- Ensuring that work or duties performed are in accordance with the Rules Regulations Instructions Guidelines and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management.
