JOB GOAL:Provides nursing care to medically complex students

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid license to practice as aLicensed Practical Nurse orRegistered Nurse in Massachusetts
  • One to twoyears experiencein a child health community health or other relevant clinical nursing setting
  • Current CPR/AED certification by American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • Ability to provide care and safety to medically complex student/s which may include lifting and diapering/toileting
  • Ability to provide emergency care/assessment
  • Knowledge of professional and legal requirements
  • Human relations skills
  • Organizational/administrative skills
  • Knowledgeof child growth and development
  • Ability toeffectively use local resources
  • Basic computer skills includingdata entry and wordprocessing

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide 1:1 care to student with special health care needs or provide care to multiple students in a special education classroom setting
  • Ride bus with students before and after school when needed
  • Ensure student safety at all times
  • Assess and treat illness manage chronic disease
  • Provide emergency care/assessment
  • Implement plan of care perindividualized health care plansor emergency planfor students requiring nursing services on IEPs and 504s
  • Administer medications
  • Performtreatments or nursing procedures
  • Assist with ADLsand hygiene care
  • Work collaboratively with the school nurse/nursing administration school staff and health care providers/consultants toensurehigh quality of care
  • Communicates and collaborates with parents regularly
  • Follows district policies and procedures
  • Maintains medical records and documents daily on student/s
  • Provide support and referral resources for children and their families
  • Any other responsibilities assigned byschool nurse/nursing administration

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

REPORTS TO: Director of School Nurses

SALARY: In accordance with the Agreement with the Lynn School Committee and the Lynn School Nurses

Early Elementary: 7:302:00pm
Late Elementary: 8:002:30pm
Secondary: 7:302:45pm

BUS HOURS: Approximately 1 hour before and1hourafter school hours

An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of preemployment physical including a drug test National fingerprintbased Criminal Background Check (NCBC) and Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI).

AllMUSTbe completedPRIORto the start of employment.
