Senior Software Development Engineer - Web / Full Stack

About this role

Capital Ones mission is to change banking for good by bringing humanity ingenuity and simplicity to banking. Sitting at the core of such values is our Software Engineering department whose primary role is to be an enabler of our ambitions. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join one of our web teams based in our London office.

The team looks after a number of React applications used by our customer services agents. We work with our Product Owners to build features that give agents the tools they need to support our customers more easily.

What were looking for are experienced engineers with skills in technologies and frameworks such as AWS Javascript TypeScript Knowledge of building APIs using modern OO languages such as Java would be advantageous as the team are expanding their capabilities to support smaller sized services work.

What youll do

• Youll work as part of a selforganised Web engineering team to design and develop software features that are delightful and vital to the lives of credit card consumers across all walks of life
• Your scope of work is take ownership of ambiguous problems and come forward with scalable solutions
• In addition to this youll be involved in solving wider business problems thinking at domain and system level.
• Youll work to achieve the goals and vision shared by Product Management and your Leadership
• Innovate within your team initiative area and contribute within your technical domain

What were looking for

Before reading any further these are the key skills we need. Dont worry if its not a complete match we are looking for those capable of learning and upskilling.

• JavaScript HTML CSS Playwright and open to equivalent technologies
• Programming skills and strong working knowledge of modern web frameworks such as or equivalent frameworks
• Knowledge of building APIs using modern OO languages such as Java SpringBoot SOLID principles SOA HTTP and REST would be a plus
• CI/CD pipeline experience
• Understanding and experience with AWS or cloud technologies
• Youll have a proven ability to deliver high quality applications
• Quality is important and therefore youre happy to use approaches such as Pair Programming TDD and BDD
• Working collaboratively and committed to be part of a successful outcome with the key focus upon enabling others in their work both within and outside of the team.

Where and how youll work

This is a permanent position and is based from our London office.

We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.

Were big on collaboration and connection so youll be based in our office 3 days a week on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays.
