Job Description
Confab Mfg Co LLC has an immediate opportunity for a Shipping Specialist to support our Fontana CA manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate will support the Shipping and Receiving department working with plant management as well as production staff to meet customer and company requirements.
Starting Pay $22.00/HR.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilize daily production schedules to identify and manage products in production.
- Prepare bills of lading and related shipping documentation.
- Confirm all inventory transactions using the ERP system.
- Coordinate and expedite urgent shipments to customers or other company locations.
- Oversee proper packing and loading of all shipments (Residential LTL FedEx).
- Ensure loads are secured using appropriate strapping per company standards.
- Verify serial numbers sizes colors and configurations before shipment.
- Direct material handlers in moving finished goods to staging or loading areas.
- Perform daily forklift safety inspections and maintain operational tools.
- Monitor supply levels and alert supervisors of potential stockouts.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping area in line with 5S standards.
- Assist with Less than Truck Load (LTL) shipments and trailer loading.
- Process sales orders and pointofsale (POS) payments as needed.
- Communicate any shipment issues to the Transportation Planner immediately.
- Dispatch intercompany fleet as needed.
- Track and contribute to the improvement of OnTime Delivery (OTD) and OnTime InFull (OTIF) metrics.
- Stage loads and pick tickets for loaders.
- Maintain DOT compliance and BIT inspection records.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in freight shipments and logistics is preferred.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook) required.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance procedures.
- Competency in using electronic scales cameras and basic computer applications.
- Familiarity with booking carriers and generating freight quotes based on dimensional weight.
- Ability to trace and track LTL FedEx and other carrier shipments and obtain proofs of delivery.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Required to wear all designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Must maintain a clean and safe work environment per company 5S standards.
