Department Description
Hogan Lovells has one of the broadest banking and finance practices of any major City law firm. By building on our wellestablished general corporate banking practice and by developing a clear understanding of our clients business needs and the markets in which they operate we have become one of the market leaders in all areas of finance.
The real estate finance team at Hogan Lovells act for lenders and borrowers on complex multi jurisdictional transactions. The team is at the forefront of the market and often involved in high profile deals.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Technical Ability
Understanding of legal principles of own practice area along with a working knowledge of other practice areas
Has project management responsibility ideally involving numerous teams and jurisdictions ensuring timely delivery to high quality standards
Ability to draft and negotiate complex facility agreements and English law security documents with some experience of Intercreditor agreements.
Ability to lead financing transactions reporting directly to the supervising partner
Stays aware of legal developments affecting any specialist areas and regularly attends appropriate training sessions
Client Focus
Has good working relationships with clients
Has a good understanding of client the sector and the associated risks and opportunities.
Actively works to develop and strengthen new client relationships
Team Work and Interpersonal Skills
Acts as a source of advice to others sharing knowledge and expertise
Has strong relationships and profile amongst senior colleagues
Ability to work effectively with others whilst also managing and taking responsibility for an individual case load

Understands the industry and market in which the practice stream and clients operate
Contributes to the management of the group/practice area by understanding the areas of specialism the firms capabilities and business plan

Person Specification
The Candidate
We have an opening for a Real Estate Finance lawyer. Experience gained within a top tier firm is preferred. It is essential that the candidate has a strong academic background with excellent written communication and drafting skills. The successful candidate will also have outstanding technical skills in real estate finance together with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues and work well in a team. The ideal candidate will have between five to eight years post qualification experience (or equivalent experience) and will have experience of managing an independent case load supervising junior team members and working as part of a larger team.
