Staff Software Engineer - Routing

About the role:

Samsaras Routing org is redefining how commercial fleets operate from strategic route planning to live dispatch and navigation. We are building a fullstack AIaugmented platform that helps logistics businesses reduce cost increase efficiency and unlock new operational capabilities.

As a Staff Engineer youll lead key architectural efforts across Routing spanning route optimization dispatch systems commercial navigation and systems integration with customer ERPs. Youll partner closely with product design and other engineering teams to deliver extensible highimpact systems. Youll be expected to influence product direction own systemlevel design decisions and drive complex projects endtoend. This is a highleverage role with significant ownership and visibility.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US.

In this role you will:

• Architect and own critical systems that span route planning dispatch and commercial navigation.
• Work closely with PMs designers and engineers across time zones to ensure cohesive product experiences.
• Design scalable solutions that meet both generic and longtail customer needs often involving legacy systems (e.g. AS/400 SAP).
• Build systems that handle dynamic constraints operational rules and geospatial data at scale.
• Mentor senior engineers set technical direction and raise the bar for design and code quality.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across product sales and customer success to bring features to market.
• Champion role model and embed Samsaras cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success Build for the Long Term Adopt a Growth Mindset Be Inclusive Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• 10 years of industry experience with 2 years in Staff /Principal level or equivalent roles.
• Experience leading architecture for complex distributed systems and customerfacing platforms.
• Fullstack product engineering background with a history of shipping production features.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; you can influence without authority.
• Experience working with enterprise customers and adapting solutions to meet their operational needs.
• Ability to operate with autonomy and initiative prioritizing ruthlessly in a fastpaced environment.

An ideal candidate also has:

• Experience in logistics transportation or mapping.
• Familiarity with systems integration (ERP EDI thirdparty APIs).
• Experience building for mobile (React Native iOS/Android) especially GPS/navigation apps.
• Prior startup or founder experience you know how to move fast and find leverage.
