About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Writer/Editor II to provide support to our public health Federal Government customer.
This is a hybrid remote role based in Atlanta GA.
Responsibilities
- Write and edit content including materials for infection control guidelines and recommendation efforts training resources web content policy statements and reports based on the communications format.
- Review project partnercreated content to ensure alignment with messaging and guidance.
- Collaborate with communications policy and scientific staff to create educational materials talking points promotional materials social media content blog content policy statements reports public presentations prepared public responses and other online content; ensure that all materials are based in science and are audience appropriate.
- Collaborate to create graphics video and images to convey information.
- Follow communications policies and formats to ensure that all communications materials follow best practices for health education risk communication and plain language.
- Update and coordinate all website content and resources; ensure scientific consistency of all messages and materials weekly.
- Assist public health scientific staff in responding to requests for information presentations and other events by creating messaging slide sets prepared responses and handouts.
- Contribute to web collateral messaging graphics timeline planning and project management. This includes developing content and working with Creative Services
- Participate in meetings as a representative of the communications team and provide meeting updates/summaries to relevant team members.
- Proactively identifies researches and resolves problems or issues; participates in team strategy sessions to discuss solutions. Proactively recommends updated strategies to improve analysis tactics and outreach efforts.
- Format and send Adobe Campaign (or other email subscription platform) messages format and post Safe Healthcare blog entries moderate (review/approve/triage and/or respond to) blog comments. Use SharePoint for workflow/task management.
- Prepare electronic documents that will be posted online or distributed via email according to Section 508 guidelines. Use agency checklists to help ensure compliance with the guidelines.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an editor and in communications in a public health setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Experience writing in plain language for nontechnical or/or nonscientific audiences.
- Ability to collaborate with others and be a team player.
- Graphic and multimedia skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including advanced Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
- Superior multitasking and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize assignments while remaining flexible to changing priorities and new initiatives.
- Project management skills.
- Previous experience with public health federal government agency programs policies procedures and communication activities preferred.
- Ability to obtain a government clearance.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future.
Education and Training
- Bachelors degree in a related field such as: Communications (journalism advertising marketing public relations); or English (writing/editing); or Public Health required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
